The Seventh Seal LP (Original Soundtrack)
A concept design for a collector’s edition 12” LP to celebrate the 70th anniversary of this classic Swedish film by Ingmar Bergman (1957) and the soundtrack which accompanies it. The design utilises silhouettes and masked imagery which establishes a stark contrast, mixed with some grainy texture.
The Swedish heritage of the film is celebrated by utilising elements of the country’s flag and vibrant splashes of yellow combined with the iconic monochromatic stills to convey the timeless legacy of the fi lm after almost seventy years. The soundtrack is relatively short but eerily cinematic. Although there hasn’t (yet) been an official release of the soundtrack, I took the opportunity to design a collector’s anniversary edition LP in celebration of it being a classic cinematic masterpiece and one of the most compelling fi lms of the 20th century.
