Geojuice: Sustainable Packaging Concept

Through collective investigation of this broad topic and deeper research into the challenges our modern world faces with ‘overpackaging’, this brief offers the opportunity to extend knowledge of sustainable materials, production and governance and develop innovative packaging outcomes through iterative design.

This brief asks to demonstrate new knowledge of Sustainable Packaging and design an application with considered context. Key to success will be your ability to develop a sense of responsibility as a designer in this field. Redesigning a concept for an existing product in a more sustainable fashion.

I chose to reimagine the juicebox. Using sustainable materials which are naturally based, raw materials such as sugarcane, bamboo algae and soy. The container is made from sugarcane pulp and is lined with a thin layer of edible algae-based plastic, so it is liquid proof and more food safe. The graphics for the brand are stamped on using soy inks so it doesn’t affect the disposal process. This makes it 100% home compostable leaving much less negative impact on the earth.
